Sweet Saturday

She wakes early on a Saturday morning. He's not there. She roles over to find two red carnations tied together on the pillow in his place. The blinds are up and it is snowing giant gum drop flakes. She smiles that big warm smile that he always brings to her face. She sits up in bed and suddenly the door opens. It his he! "Oh! My Prince!" she says through a giggle. "You have returned! You have come back to me!" He smiles back at her, "But never have I left my lady! For yours I am always, sweet princess." He comes over and crawls back into the covers. With the flowers in her hand, his arms around her, and a kiss on her forehead she drifts back to sleep. Oh sweet Saturday.

To You I Belong

She comes home from work absolutely exhausted. Everything at the magazine seemed to go wrong that day. All she wants is to get into her pajamas, cuddle into bed next to her husband and fall asleep in his arms. On the way home, she calls him just so she can hear his voice 10 minutes sooner, "Hey you!" Already her exhausting day became worth it. As he ecstatically tells her his day's blessing of leading a young boy to Christ at youth group, she smiles. The excitement in his voice is something she knows very well. It's like he goes back in time to a ten year old boy who is excited about his new puppy. Oh how she loves sharing daily in his happiness.

Once he is finished sharing about his day, he asks about hers. She tells him of the stress she suffered at the magazine. He offers his comfort, "I'm sorry baby. I will cheer you up whenever you get home, I promise" She always has him to come home to. He is always there as a shoulder for her to rest on, a support to keep her going. Oh how she loves having someone to share her pain.

She is just turning onto their street. They get off the phone as she pulls into the garage. She walks into the house, throws her purse and keys on the table in the entry way and heads into the kitchen to get something hot to drink. She rounds to the corner to catch him standing by the microwave in his sweat pants waiting for the hot chocolate. A smile spreads across her face as she refrains from laughter. Every time the timer on the microwave changes he strikes a different pose...what a goofball! A giggle slips. He wips around with a big smile on his face, bounds over and scoops her up in his arms. How good his embrace feels.

She goes and puts on a pair of his sweat pants and a big T-shirt. She washes her face and pulls her hair up. She walks in to the living room and curls up beside him on the couch. He pulls the big fleece blanket around her and hands her a mug of hot chocolate. For the next two hours they just sit there and talk and sip they're hot chocolate. She falls asleep in his arms. He carries her into bed and together they fall asleep wrapped up in each others arms. And neither of them would want it any other way...

May I Have This Dance?

He watches her from the other side of the ice; She doesn't know he's there. He watches her. She is so beautiful. He watches her skate back and forth across the ice, her movements so graceful, poised, elegant. He watches as she sings to herself as she skates along. The crisp winter air around her, light flakes of snow fall and rest in her hair, the glow of the rink lights up her face. And as "Just the Way You Look Tonight" begins to play, he watches her laugh, her smile is so beautiful. She waltzes around the rink as if her dancing partner is there. He smiles for she is his. He is the one she pretends to dance with, the one whom she daydreams about when he is not around, the one whom he will cherish forever. I love this woman. He floats over the ice to her and takes her up in his arms.

She laughs and smiles with pure delight. He never ceases to surprise her, to thrill her with his every move. She kisses him and as always is reminded of how in love with this man she is. He holds her in his arms there on the ice, and she is filled with such warmth, such happiness. They float along the ice together, hand in hand, as one. He asks her, "May I have this dance?" She replies with a giggle, "Of course, my love." They spin round and round on the ice, the snow falling around them, everything becoming a blur. She sees nothing but his face, full of love and passion. She smiles for he is hers. He is the one she will hold forever. He is the one whose face she will have to look upon for the rest of her life. I love this man.

City Streets

Together they walk down the quiet city street, hand in hand. She looks up into his eyes and sees her comfort and security resting in them. He looks down into hers to find the depths of her heart. As they stroll down the street, they enjoy each other's presence; every word, an important event in time, every touch a timless memory - every moment of it, unforgetable. The clouds roll in and thunder and lightning fill the sky ; The volume, incredible. The sight, amazing. They make a run for the nearest overhang at a drugstore down the road. Holding one another's hands and dashing through the giant rain drops together, they feel a sense of closeness, unity. Under the overhang, soaked and wet, he holds her close, enveloping her with his warmth. She whispers, "I love you." At that, he pulled away, looked into her eyes and asked, "Would you spend every thunderstorm with me?" Slightly confused by his response, she replied, "Of course babe." He searched even deeper in her eyes. He then smiled for he found what he was looking for, her answer to his next question. He got down on his knees and with all that he was, he asked, "Would you spend everyday of the rest of your life with me?" She looked down into his eyes and in them she saw the rest of her life; the memories they would make together, the joy, the pain, and the love. She saw his heart, and in it she saw herself. "Yes!" she cried, "with all my heart, mind, body and soul!" He stood and scooped her up into his arms. They spun out into the rain, drops falling all around them. He lowered her to the street as she giggled with pure excitement. He once again looked down into her eyes, "I love you."
